Carpet Installation in Jersey Village
When a leak or a heavy storm soaks your carpet, the pad underneath usually holds the water long after the surface feels dry. We pull out what can't be saved, confirm the slab is ready, and lay new carpet that stays flat and smells clean.

New Carpet, Started From a Dry Floor
Carpet is soft and forgiving to live on, but it is the least forgiving floor when water gets under it. The pad acts like a sponge, the tack strip along the walls swells and rusts, and moisture trapped against a concrete slab can feed odor and mold for weeks. Laying fresh carpet over that only hides the problem for a while.
So our carpet work starts underneath. We take the old carpet, pad and damaged strip out of your home, check the slab with a moisture meter, and install only when the readings say it is ready. Then we choose a pad suited to the room, power-stretch the carpet so it won't ripple in a humid Houston-area summer, and plan seams so they fall out of the main walking paths.
The same care applies when nothing went wrong and you simply want a new look. A quiet, even floor comes from the same steps either way.
What Our Carpet Installation Covers
- Removal of old carpet and pad
- We cut out and haul away the old carpet and pad, including wet material that has become heavy and sour. Your rooms are left with bare slab or subfloor, ready to inspect.
- Moisture testing before anything goes down
- We take readings across the slab, paying attention to exterior walls and doorways where water tends to linger. If it is still damp, we tell you and wait rather than trap moisture under new pad.
- New tack strip and transitions
- Tack strip that has rusted or swollen is replaced so the carpet grips evenly at every wall. Where carpet meets tile, wood or vinyl, we fit transitions that sit flush and don't catch a toe.
- Pad matched to the room
- A firmer, denser pad helps carpet wear well in hallways and family rooms, while bedrooms can take something softer. Some pads carry a moisture barrier, which we can explain if a room has flooded before.
- Power stretching and careful seams
- We stretch the carpet with a power stretcher instead of a knee kicker alone, which keeps it tight through seasonal humidity. Seams are laid out before cutting so they run with the light and away from traffic.
- Cleanup at the end of the day
- Scraps, old strip and staples are cleared, and the floor is vacuumed before we leave. You walk into a finished room, not a work site.
Signs Your Carpet Needs Replacing, Not Cleaning
A musty smell after rain
If a room smells damp every time the weather turns wet, the pad is likely holding water. Shampooing the surface won't reach it.
Stains that come back
A spot that returns after cleaning is often wicking up from soaked pad underneath. The source is below the carpet, not on it.
Ripples and loose areas
Carpet that has been wet stretches and relaxes as it dries. Bumps and waves that keep returning mean the backing or the stretch has given out.
Rust lines along the walls
Brown or orange marks near baseboards usually come from tack strip that sat in water. That strip no longer holds the carpet properly.
Flattened traffic lanes
Paths that stay matted after vacuuming show the fibers and pad have worn through. New carpet is the honest fix at that point.
How a Carpet Job Runs
- 1
A first conversation by phone
You tell us what happened, which rooms are affected and how soon you need them back. We set a time to come see the floors in person.
- 2
Measuring and checking underneath
At your home we measure each room, lift a corner of the old carpet, and take moisture readings on the slab. We photograph what we find so you can see it too.
- 3
A written, line-item estimate
You receive an estimate that lists removal, tack strip, pad, carpet, transitions and any floor repair separately. If an insurance claim is involved, those line items and photos are easy to hand to your adjuster.
- 4
Installation day
We move the old material out, prepare the floor, lay pad and stretch the carpet room by room. Most homes are walkable again by the end of the day.
- 5
A final walk together
We go through each room with you, checking seams, edges and transitions. Anything that isn't right gets fixed before we pack up.

What Shapes the Cost of New Carpet
Carpet pricing depends far more on the rooms and what is under them than on the roll itself. We price after seeing your home in person, and the written estimate shows each part so nothing appears later as a surprise.
- Square footage and room shape
- Carpet comes in fixed widths, so odd-shaped rooms and long halls create more waste and more seams. Layout matters as much as total area.
- Carpet and pad choice
- Fiber type, density and pad thickness all move the price. We can show you where spending more adds real wear life and where it doesn't.
- Removal of wet or damaged material
- Soaked carpet and pad are heavy to remove and haul. Replacing rusted tack strip throughout the room adds labor too.
- Condition of the slab
- Cracks, high spots or old adhesive may need attention before pad goes down. Extra drying time can shift the schedule, though it is cheaper than redoing the floor.
- Stairs and furniture
- Each stair is wrapped and fitted by hand, which takes time; our Stair Flooring page covers that work in detail. Heavy furniture that needs moving also factors in.
Carpet Installation Questions
Something not covered here? (346) 588-7323
Can my wet carpet be dried and kept?
Sometimes, if the water came from a clean source like a supply line and was caught quickly. Carpet soaked by floodwater or left wet for days generally should be replaced, and the pad almost always should be. We will look at it and give you a straight answer.
How long does the slab need to dry before new carpet goes in?
It depends on how much water got in and how the house is being dried. Rather than guess, we take meter readings and install once they are in range. Laying carpet over a damp slab invites odor and mold.
Will you work with my insurance company?
We don't act as your adjuster, but we can make their job easier. Our photos of the damage and a line-item estimate give your claim clear documentation of what was removed and what is being replaced.
How long will the installation take?
A few bedrooms or a living area is usually a one-day job once the floor is ready. Larger homes, stairs or slab repairs can add time, and we'll tell you the expected schedule before we start.
Is carpet a good choice for a room that has flooded before?
It can be, with the right pad and a well-dried floor. For rooms at higher risk, many homeowners look at our Carpet Tile or Luxury Vinyl Plank options, since damaged pieces can be pulled and replaced without redoing the whole room. We are glad to compare them with you.
