Carpet Tile in Jersey Village
Carpet tile gives you the warmth of carpet with one practical difference: when a pipe drips, a dog has an accident or rain gets under a door, you lift the damaged squares and set new ones in. We test the slab, plan the layout and leave you spares.

Soft underfoot, and repairable when something goes wrong
Carpet tile is carpet cut into squares or planks, usually 24 by 24 inches or long 9 by 36 inch strips, with a firm backing that keeps each piece flat. Instead of one large stretched sheet held at the walls, every tile sits on its own on a release adhesive that grips without bonding for good.
That matters most on the day something goes wrong. With wall-to-wall broadloom, a leak near a water heater or a wet patch by the patio door often means pulling up the pad and seaming in a section that rarely matches. With carpet tile, we lift the affected squares, let the slab dry, and lay matching tiles from the same carton.
It suits game rooms, home offices, playrooms and upstairs bonus rooms where spills are likely and you still want something soft. If you prefer a plush, unbroken surface in a primary bedroom, our carpet installation page covers broadloom instead.
What our carpet tile work includes
Slab moisture testing
Most homes in the area sit on concrete slabs, and a slab that looks dry can still push moisture up into adhesive. We test before we install, and after any leak or storm we wait until readings say the concrete is ready.
Removal and floor prep
We take up old carpet, pad and tack strip, scrape adhesive residue, and patch cracks or low spots. Carpet tile shows every ridge underneath, so leveling is part of the job, not an extra.
Layout and pattern planning
We find the midpoint of the space and work outward, which keeps the partial pieces along opposite walls the same width. You choose the pattern: quarter-turn for a checkerboard texture, monolithic for a broadloom look, or ashlar and brick offsets for planks.
Release adhesive installation
Tiles go down on a pressure-sensitive adhesive that holds them firmly in place but lets a single square be lifted later without tearing the backing or the floor beneath.
Transitions and cleanup
We fit clean edges where carpet tile meets tile, vinyl or hardwood, vacuum the finished floor and haul away the old material.
Spare tiles from your dye lot
We set aside a carton of extras from the same production run. Colors shift slightly between dye lots, so keeping spares is what makes a future repair invisible.
Signs carpet tile is the right call
Your carpet wicked water from a leak
Wall-to-wall carpet and pad soak up water well beyond the visible stain. If you are replacing a floor after a slab leak, an overflowing washer or water blown in during a storm, carpet tile limits what the next incident can cost you.
Stains keep winning
Pets, kids and coffee in one room can outlast any cleaning. Swapping three tiles is easier than living with a mark or replacing a whole room.
You want carpet in a busy space
Game rooms and home gyms take hard use. Firm-backed tiles hold up to rolling chairs and moved furniture better than a stretched carpet that ripples.
Patches never match
If an earlier broadloom repair left a visible seam or color difference, a modular floor with saved spares avoids that problem from the start.
How a carpet tile job runs
- 1
A phone conversation first
You describe the space, the flooring you have now and whether any water has reached it. If it has, we discuss drying and timing before anything goes on the calendar.
- 2
Measure and moisture check
We visit to measure, look at transitions and test the slab. You get a written estimate broken into removal, prep, materials and labor, with photos of anything we found under the old flooring.
- 3
Prep day
Furniture is moved, old flooring comes up, and the slab is cleaned, patched and leveled. Doorways and halls stay as clear as we can manage.
- 4
Installation and walkthrough
Tiles go down from the center line out, with cuts at the walls and fitted transitions. We walk the room with you, show you how to lift and reset a tile, and leave the spare carton with you.
Where the cost of carpet tile comes from
Two things make up your total: the tile you choose, bought by the square foot, and the work needed to get the slab ready for it. The concrete underneath often decides more than the product does. We break every part out on the estimate so you can follow the numbers, and that same breakdown helps if you are documenting a damage claim.
- Room size and layout
- More square footage means more tile, and rooms with closets, angles or many doorways add cuts and waste.
- Tile construction
- Thicker face fibers, cushion backings and plank formats cost more than a dense low-pile square, and they feel different underfoot.
- Slab condition
- Cracks, old adhesive and uneven spots need grinding or patching. A slab still drying after water damage may push the schedule back.
- What comes up first
- Removing wet carpet and pad, tack strip or glued-down flooring takes time and disposal, more so if material is waterlogged.
- Furniture and transitions
- Heavy pieces to move and edges to meet tile, vinyl or stairs each add labor.
Carpet tile questions
Something not covered here? (346) 588-7323
Can I replace a damaged tile myself?
Yes, and that is much of the appeal. Lift the tile at a corner with a putty knife, set a spare from your carton in the same direction as its neighbors and press it down. The release adhesive stays tacky for a long time, so a new tile usually holds without anything extra.
We had water come in. Can you save the tiles that stayed dry?
Often, yes. We lift the wet area plus a margin around it, check the slab, and reinstall dry tiles once the concrete tests ready. Tiles that sat in water, especially stormwater, should be replaced rather than reused.
Will you help with my insurance claim?
We do not act as your adjuster, but we can give you a line-item estimate and photos of the damaged flooring and the slab underneath. Those make it easier for you to explain the loss to your insurer.
Does carpet tile feel like regular carpet?
It feels firmer, since there is usually no separate pad. Cushion-backed tiles close much of that gap. If you want the softest possible floor in a bedroom, wall-to-wall carpet may suit you better, and we are happy to compare the two by phone.
Can carpet tile go on stairs?
We do not recommend it, because square edges do not wrap a stair nose cleanly. Our stair flooring service covers treads and risers that work alongside a carpet tile room.
